Bali is often referred to as the island of the Gods. This is because Balinese Hinduism manifests itself in all aspects of Balinese daily life and culture, from the architecture and statues to the temples in every home to the daily offerings performed by the people to the wonderful ceremonies and spiritual public holidays such as Nyepi and Galungan. Bali glows with its own unique energy, clear to anyone who sets foot on this island paradise. In sympathy with this, a great deal of attention has been placed on the house design manifesting its own spiritual energy.

Imbued with the Hindu philosophy of Turiya at its heart and centre (see Ethos section for more on the meaning), The Turiya is a private oasis to wake, dream, sleep and go beyond. During the waking state of the Turiya, the house is an oasis refuge from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s social energy and tropical climate.

The unique design focuses on a high-end luxury experience with sophisticated and functional design.

The main structure of the house pays homage to Moroccan riad influence for privacy. The façade walls are inspired by Peter Zumthor’s Kolumba Museum in Cologne. Two spectacular staircases ground each of the two main wings of the property. Curves are an integral key design feature throughout the home, connecting the various spaces together organically. The curves also represent the divine feminine energy, Shakti which combines with the divine masculine energy, Shiva. The manifest energy of the Universe is represented in Shakti and the unmanifest pure consciousness is represented by Shiva. According to yoga philosophy, both exist within us.

Mirroring Bali’s nature and landscape, the colour palette of The Turiya’s interiors blend together warm earthy tones, olive and royal greens, that breathe into life through textural materials such as wood, terrazzo, brushed brass, velvet, polished cement floors and lime-washed walls.

During the waking state of Turiya, guests are able to explore and flow through the different communal living spaces and social alcoves from the 18.5-metre lap pool that features a pool bar, to the plush indoor and outdoor sunken lounge seating areas, 12-seater dining table and cinema and childrens playroom with 3m projector screen.

The bedroom suites are designed for luxurious deep sleep, stillness and relaxation, as one enters the dream and the dreamless states of Turiya. With moody ambient lighting, 500 thread-count bed linen, high quality mattresses, black-out drapes and brass-inlaid polished cement floors, guests can fully immerse and indulge in quality downtime. Ensuite bathrooms feature custom marble double sinks, rain showers and standalone bathtubs, equipped with brushed brass Hansgrohe faucets and shower sets.

The Turiya has 3 kitchens. The bespoke guest kitchen is made from granite, its grain mirroring the surf waves of Canggu and its crystals energising and soothing the space. A full service commercial kitchen houses our private chef who will cater to your culinary needs and we have a more informal rooftop kitchen and bar on the roof.

The two extensive rooftop terraces are each 150sqm in size and offer glimpses of the Indian Ocean as well as the Vishnu Statue in Uluwatu. On one side there is an outdoor kitchen and bar area, pool table and seating areas, on the other side a large exercise/yoga space to ensure a healthy alignment of mind and body throughout your stay.

Sustainability has been considered. 28 solar panels on the rooftop utilise the sun’s energy to assist the villa’s power requirements during the day. A natural 100m well within the property sources our water needs. Filtration is provided by carbon and magnesium filters and the water is softened.
